How long have you been in business?
Since June 2008
What is your primary product or service?
A Day Spa for men and women as well as, a hair salon. Our facility is also, licensed by the City of Detroit as a Massage Palor facility. The spa services includes: therapeutic massages, touchless massages, natural and enhanced nail care, pedicures, facials, body scrubs, body wraps, all phases of body waxing (facial, brazilian & bikini)and Threading. The salon provides braiding, twist, weaves, press & curl, lock and other hair care services. We have a retail sales area of our own handcrafted spa products known as " LaDonSpa"
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
The LaDonSpa product line was the beginning of our services in 2005. The day spa is the united vision of the three founders: The late Mary Hurse, La Donna Wicks and Michael Young. In 2009, the spa expanded it services to include hair care services with emphysis on natural hair care. Mary Hurse was a retiree of General Motors and prior owner of several cleaners in Chicago, Ill. Michael Young has a BA from Wayne State, serves as a Professional guardian for the past 9 years and is self emplyed as a CCW Instructor and Security/Surveillance Systems Specialist. La Donna Wicks served as a Professional Guardian and owner of an agency for the past 16 years, a Respiratory and Medical Consultant for 30 years, MI licensed Nursing Home Administrator of past 17 years and is a graduate of Robertson International for Manicuring and Esthetician with licensing through the State of Michigan.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We believe in customer service and professionalism. Our services are rendered by trained and licensed/certified staff members. Many of our services and equipment is unique and or exclusive to our day spa. At JaMars we use many name brands products for the ultimate in relaxation, rejuevenation and healing of the spirit.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
One location at this time with only plans of extending our available services to our third building, next door in the upcoming years.

James Couzens is the John C. Lodge Service Drive. We are located on the southbound side of the service drive, between Greenfield and Pembrook at the corner of Sussex. We are south of 8 mile Rd and 1 mile south of Northland Mall.
What type of payments do you accept?
Cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Debit Cards and Discover.
Which areas do you service?
The Metro Detroit & its' surrounding suburan areas (Wayne, Oakland, Macomb). We also are happy to services out of town visitors and our neighbors across the water in Canada.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Daily operations are handled by La Donna Wicks

SPA OPEN FOR APPOINTMENTS AND WALK INS!!! FALL & WINTER SPA HOURS: Tuesday - Thursday 11am to 6pm; Friday & Saturday 10am to 8pm; SPRING & SUMMER SPA HOURS: Tuesday & Wednesday 11am to 6pm; Thursday 10am to 6pm; Firday & Saturday 10am to 7pm; HAIR SALON HOURS(via Appointments): Tuesday - Saturday 9am - 7:30pm.
